FREE Money at CVS!

Right now you can go to the CVS Site and purchase a $25 eGift card and get $5 for FREE! It's an awesome way to start saving at CVS.

Also, people have asked me how to start saving and shopping at CVS. Here is one idea for next week's deals starting Sunday 5/1:

Purchase #1:
Colgate MaxClean SmartFoam, MaxWhite, or MaxFresh 6oz toothepaste and pay $2.77.

With your CVS card (if you don't have one you def need to sign up), you will get back $2.77 in ECB (extra care bucks) to use on a future purchase. (Limit 2)

In the same purchase you could buy:
2 Butterfinger Snackerz $0.50/each
Use $1/2 Butterfinger Coupon Found at

Purchase #2:
Bic Soleil Shimmer Razor Starter Kit $6.99
get a $3 ECB (limit 1)
Use $3/1 Bic Soleil from this Sunday's 5/1 newspaper coupons
Also, use $2.77 ECB you got back from purchasing Colgate in transaction #1 and you will only be spending $1.22.
Plus you will be getting you $3 ECB from this transaction so it's like you are making $1.78 on the transaction!

~ Also, make sure you purchase a Green Bag Tag (usually located by the registers) and use your reusable bags! They cost $0.99 up front, but $1 ECB prints on your receipt every 4th visit!

Any Questions??

Ideas on Saving Money...

Last Saturday, I got a mani/pedi for only $20+tip (used a groupon), but am always irritated that manicures don't last long. To help lengthen the time of this manicure I brought a nail polish I already had to the salon and picked a matching color.

Yesterday, I did a quick touch up of my nail color and have to say it looks ALMOST like new :) If you look closely you can tell it's not "professional" anymore, but who looks at my nails that closely?

The next thing I did was call the manager of my apartment building. I don't call often, but this call I felt was an important one! Our apartment gets really really HOT in the summer due to our huge old badly insulated windows. One solution to this problem was to get a portable air conditioner, which helped but we needed something more.

My husband decided that this weekend he was going to purchase some Titanium Heat Control Window Film in hopes of alleviating our problem. Sounds like a decent plan right? The only problem I had with this plan is that I don't want to live in this apartment forever so why keep putting money into it?

I caught you up to tell you why I called the manager of the apartment building... I called and asked if we bought the window film would the management company reimburse us? I am SOOO glad I asked because he said, "Of course, how much?" I told him the estimate and he said, "Just take the total off your next rent check and include a copy of the receipt."

Woohoo! Now we just have to do the work and hopefully feel some results.

(Picture from the website of what the windows will look like. If only I had that view and pretty window! Thank you Lord I have windows at all.)

Saving Money by Making Baby Food

My baby girl LOVES apples, but hates apple sauce... I had to figure out a way for her to safely eat apples so this morning I boiled apple slices with a little bit of cinnamon. They are currently cooling, but can't wait for her to try it!

I have enjoyed making her food and belive I have saved a lot of money. It might take some time and effort, but I believe it's worth it knowing exactly what's entering her body.

Do you have any good baby food recipes or tips?

This week Staples had some decent sales so I decided to hop over and get two things:

1- HP Everyday Photo Paper $9.99

When you purchase the Photo Paper you get a $8.99 Rebate form that is easily filled out online so the paper is only $1!

*I am currently not planning on moving, but would like to stock up on cheap moving tape because during our last move I was unaware that the movers charge $5/roll of tape! I am not making that mistake again :)

I Shopped at CVS

I had some Honest Tea coupons printed from Recyclebank and I wanted to use them on this week's CVS deal where they are $3/3 and you get $1 ECB back. I finally found a CVS close to my house that actually carries Honest Tea and happily walked out with:

When I got home from my shopping trip and lunch there was a homeless man digging through our trash and since I started collecting things to donate I figured I would ask if he needs anything. I was holding the paper towels and said, "Well, would you like some of these?" He said he would and so I gave him two and he seemed happy and I am glad that I am doing what I said I would start doing :)
